If you decide to go down the route of using Mental Ray physical sun we should sit down and go over the correct usage (Gamma correction and Portal Lights for interiors). However, be aware that using this system adds to render time. Make sure you create a pre-viz animation that defines the shot length correctly. You don't want to be rendering excess footage.
Keep working on builing your objects etc but make sure you work on the story and pre-viz too. It needs to be refined. I will talk to you about the lighting when I am next in.
I was feeling a little like I wasn’t sure what to do next. Pre-viz is at the top of my list, I have started to work on it and hopefully within the next couple of days I will have something to post. It is slightly shorter than the storyboard I posted a few weeks ago as I’ve decided to cut a few scenes from it, keeping my animation at probably no more than 1.5 minutes to 2 minutes absolute maximum.
I see what you mean about the textures, I think sometimes these things need fresh eyes because I hadn’t noticed where id been starring at it for so long!
Definitely want to use the physical sun in my final project and yes I will definitely come in to get all the details I need to do this correctly. I've been watching a few tutorials on it and re-reading the info you gave us last year, so only have a quite basic understanding at the moment.
I have emailed you the scene to have a look at as well, thank you!!
Hi Heather - to my 'untrained eye', your Burt is really beginning to achieve a sense of wholeness and conviction - well done :-)
ReplyDeleteHi Heather,
ReplyDeleteIts great to see that you are starting to reach the level that you were always capable of achieving. Well done and keep going.
P.s. Watch out for texture scale (Wallpaper in the room is a bit big)
Also true of your brick texture too.

In the meantime, email me your Burt model and i'll take a look at the geometry. Send it to "alan_postings@yahoo.co.uk"
ReplyDeleteThank you for the comments!!
