Book

These are some final images I've just rendered to incorporate into my ''book'' for the hand in date. Where Ive been slightly concerned for my actual animation, rather than try and work on it with unsure direction i turned my attention to something i knew i could work on productively. I still have to add a few more images to the book, spell check and write a small piece and it is done :) At least that's another thing i can almost check off of my to do list!

  1. Hi Heather - great use of your time - and these look really nice.

Another thought about the final action scene; firstly, I love the transition with the model plane going after the fly - it's SOOOOOOOOO clear that this is 'not happening' and a continuation of Burt's memories - it's neat and tidy and anyone who doesn't get it is being thick! However, in terms of chopping into the final dog-fight scene, I wonder if you could put together a shot from outside the window of the house - where we look through into the room and just see Burt running from one side of the room to the other; it would be comedic... you see, if you show him smashing things up and ruining his house at this point, you undo the impact of the reveal... also, I'm wondering too if, for your ending (now that we're minus the wife) if he performs a salute - he stands up proudly, squares his shoulders and gives a salute - "job bloody well done, old chap!"

So, in summary, I don't think you should reveal the extent of the consequences of the dogfight before the final shot; so I suggest you put a camera outside the house, looking through the window, and in between the dogfight shots, you cut to him running past the window brandishing the newspaper, then back to the dog fight - and then, when Burt 'gets the plane/fly' you have a much bigger bang, a smoke cloud which dissipates to reveal Burt in his living room, camera moves back - he salutes, glass slides off and smashes - finish...
